A bit about me....

I am majoring in Secondary Education in Mathematics at the University of South Alabama. I will be teaching high school math. At this point, I am a Junior and will be graduating within two years.

I attended Washington County High School and graduated in 2005. I started attending Alabama Southern Community College two weeks after graduation. I completed most of my general studies there and transferred to University of South Alabama in the Summer of 2008.

I would love to teach in Baldwin County. I love the beauty of that county. I thoroughly enjoy the beach, as does my son. I can think of no better place to live.
My Teaching Philosophy

COMMUNICATIONS WITH PARENTS/GUARDIANS

Since I will be teaching high school, I think it is very important for parents to know where their children are on an academic level. I will always let my students' parents to know they should always feel free to contact me, I will always love and be available to discuss their child's needs, successes, etc.

ZERO TOLERANCE

Although I will be the most fun teacher any math student has ever had, I will be very strict. I feel it takes fun to learn, but it takes discipline as well. If my students know that I am there for them and care about their learning experience in my class as well as they know that I will be zero tolerance, I feel that in the end, they will respect me. I want nothing more than for my students to leave my class and say, "She is so hard, but she is so fun and fair!!!"

FUN LEARNING

I think it is very important for a classroom of students to have fun while learning. I know that if a teacher is just lecturing and rambling on, I am very easy to day dream. I think that as a teacher, my classroom will always have something excited going on in it.

PODCASTS

I know that I will really want to let my students create podcasts. This may be difficult since I will be teaching high school math. I think that a lot of people just worry about numbers when it comes to mathematics. With the use of podcasts, maybe my students can learn a bit about the history of mathematics.

GOOGLE TOOLS

I have become very fascinated with the google tools. I think that they are awesome, most of all because they are free. All students can access their google docs from any internet connection which cuts out the "My dog ate my homework" excuse. I hope my future students will enjoy this as well.

BLOGGER

I will use blogger as a teacher. I have really enjoyed using this tool in my EDM 310 class this semester. I think that students can benefit a great deal from using this very neat gadget.

MATHEMATICS

MATHEMATICS is the science of numbers and their operations, interrelations, combinations, generalizations, and abstractions and of space configurations and their structure, measurement, transformations, and generalizations.
